Commonly asked questions about solar and roofing installation:

Will my property taxes go up if I install a solar energy system?

As long as you stay in California, your property taxes will not increase on installing a solar energy system. The value of your property may not be re-assessed by the County Assessor's office for any improvements related to solar energy currently. But that could change in the future.

Are there tax credits or any other incentives to go solar?

Solar energy panels installed in 2020 and 2021 qualify for a 26% tax credit. In August 2022, an extension of the ITC (Investment Tax Credit) was passed by Congress, raising it to 30% for any solar panel installation taking place between 2022-2032. It will decrease by 4% annually, landing at 22% for systems installed in 2034. The tax credit expires in 2035 unless Congress renews it again.

My original inverter died 38 months after it went into service, which wasn't great. But, remember that Ameco doesn't build those, so not their fault. The new unit took several weeks to arrive, but they got it installed the very next day...excellent customer service! The only bummer is that with the loss of the old inverter went all the solar production history - the Solar Edge app is great for tracking and comparing generation over time (days, months, years) so I had a nifty 3-year record to play with. Well, apparently that data's not stored within the app, but drawn from the inverter itself. That being said, the Ameco folks are looking into the possibility of recovering that data from the old unit, so keep your fingers crossed! Anyway, bottom line is that the Ameco team has been great and I'm grateful for their support and service!

I want to sincerely thank the loyal and dedicated team at Ameco Solar. Every person I interacted with was exceptionally helpful, professional, and friendly. It was refreshing to speak with real people instead of automated systems, and no question I asked--no matter how basic--was ever dismissed. Whenever there was a delay or question, I could easily reach someone by phone, email, or even text. The staff maintained constant communication throughout the process, which gave me peace of mind. I chose Ameco over Sunrun because, unfortunately, what Sunrun quoted me didn't match the terms in the contract they asked me to sign. In contrast, Ameco was transparent, honest, and consistent from the beginning. One thing that really stood out was the longevity of their team. Tigran, who helped activate my system, has been with Ameco for 15 years. Bill, my salesperson, has been there for over 20 years. There's a reason their employees stay--because they truly care about their customers.

This is a review for post-install / post-PTO support. While I'm not happy the issue existed in the first place, the follow-up was fantastic. I emailed on a Thursday (early morning around 1:30am) with detailed comparisons between what my app was reporting and what the utility was reporting. Was able to get on a call with customer support that afternoon and by the next morning, they had a technician at my house. For context, my system was operational but reporting incorrectly. PTO was early February and this was mid-July when I figured out there was an issue. Chris was the technician that showed up the next day at around 11am. I showed him my comparisons, the live app and worked with him to turn off / on various loads in the house. He ran some diagnostics and eventually figured out that the CTs were installed incorrectly. He had to get on the phone with Enphase support a few times but eventually everyone figured out the issue. Since he left, reporting on the app is close enough to what the utility is reporting that we've been able to adjust our usage to cut our usage from $250 / mo. down to $18 / mo. Prior to our system going in, we were nearing $900 / mo. during the hottest summer months. So while we had some issues initially with Ameco and their subcontractors (communication, add-on fees after project start), ultimately the system was operational and their support really shines! Thanks Tigran and Chris!

It was a great experience with Ameco from the sale team to customer service and installation! We installed 16 panels with Tesla backup battery, Ameco teams followed up and kept us updated every step throughout the entire process. And we got the best deal out of all the quotes that we had been shopped for years. When you deal with Ameco, you deal directly with the company, so it will cut out other extra cost. And we even got extended warranty compared to other companies. I highly recommend the company to anyone considering going solar

Just got my NEC solar and Tesla Powerwall 3 up and running and approved with local utility. We signed the contract in March of 2025 and it's now mid August - it took that long from start to finish. The only complaint I have is the long delay that took place in the month of July. The system had been installed in the mid June, but my utility company changed the date for a 10 day window to install my new meter from July 1st to July 30th. If I had not reached out to Ameco, I would not have known this. There was no communication about the July 1st date. Once I called, I received a follow up email from Ameco with the "new" July 30th date. Once the new meter was installed by the utility, the installers came back to pass my final city inspection and finalize the installation. About a week later the utility gave me permission to turn on the system and now it's producing and storing in the Powerwall3. Once the system was turned on, Ameco was very dilligent about answering any questions for me, in fact I had a call with Tigran, one of the Tech guys offering to help me anytime I have questions or think there's a problem. He and Neena, my coordinator, seemed genuinely happy to assist me any time I have questions. So far so good!
